Best free what is my IP tools
AdminKit shows your public IPv4/IPv6 address, ISP/ASN, approximate location and a CGNAT hint, computed per request and served with Cache-Control: no-store so nothing is retained; ifconfig.co offers a similar free, no-account lookup with a documented JSON/curl API, while whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com and whatismyip.com could not be verified here because their pages blocked every automated read for this comparison.
AdminKit is built by Netbase JSC. AdminKit is listed below; the other four tools are independent and not affiliated with AdminKit.
One tool could be read, three could not
For this comparison, run 2026-11-04, ifconfig.co loaded normally and its own page and FAQ could be read directly: it shows your public IP, country/region/city/postal code, latitude/longitude, and an ASN/organization field, states IPv4 or IPv6 can each be forced via dedicated v4.ifconfig.co / v6.ifconfig.co subdomains, and documents a scriptable JSON response (Accept: application/json) with curl -4/curl -6 examples — all free, with no login.
whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com and whatismyip.com could not be read the same way: every automated request to their own pages on 2026-11-04 returned a Cloudflare block — either an HTTP 403 response or a JavaScript challenge page — rather than the page itself. That matches what AdminKit’s IP lookup comparison against ipinfo.io already found for whatismyipaddress.com in an earlier check. Because this comparison’s rule is to only state what a competitor’s own page confirms, no feature, pricing or account claim is made about any of these three sites here — their table rows are marked unverified rather than guessed.
What AdminKit’s own tool does
AdminKit’s what-is-my-IP tool reads your public IPv4/IPv6 address, ISP/ASN and approximate location straight from the request, computed in a Cloudflare function with nothing looked up from a third-party geolocation database. It also flags CGNAT when your address falls in the shared space RFC 6598 reserves for it, and shows which DNS resolver you’re using. The response is served with Cache-Control: no-store, so the result is not retained after the request — see what each field in that result actually means in what your IP lookup result actually shows.
What AdminKit doesn’t offer today is a documented API: unlike ifconfig.co’s curl-friendly JSON endpoint, AdminKit’s Check API — which would expose the same IP, ASN and CGNAT data programmatically — is not deployed to any public host yet, so there is no scriptable equivalent to ifconfig.co’s one-liners at this time.
The honest angle
If you want a one-click look at your public IP plus the ASN, approximate location and a CGNAT hint in a page built around that result, that’s what AdminKit’s tool is for. If you want to script an IP lookup from the command line with a documented JSON response, ifconfig.co’s own page states it supports exactly that today, which AdminKit does not yet. whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com and whatismyip.com are three of the most-searched names in this category, which is why they’re named here, but this comparison cannot tell you what their pages currently do or don’t do because their own pages blocked every attempt to read them for this check.
Trademarks belong to their respective owners; AdminKit is not affiliated with whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com, ifconfig.co or whatismyip.com.

Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't this comparison make feature claims about whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com or whatismyip.com?
Every automated read of these three sites' own pages for this comparison, run 2026-11-04, returned a Cloudflare block (an HTTP 403 response or a JavaScript challenge page) instead of actual page content, so their current features, account requirements and pricing could not be independently confirmed from the sites' own pages. Rather than guess, this comparison marks their table rows unverified instead of asserting anything none of them has confirmed here. ifconfig.co's own page loaded normally and is cited directly in the rows below.
Does AdminKit's what-is-my-IP tool store or log your IP address?
No. Per AdminKit's own privacy page, the result is computed per request in a Cloudflare function and returned with Cache-Control: no-store, and AdminKit does not run its own access logs of the request. ifconfig.co's own page does not state a data-retention policy either way, so this comparison does not claim it does or doesn't store requests — that point is marked unverified for ifconfig.co, not assumed.
Can I get a curl or JSON API response from AdminKit's what-is-my-IP tool, like ifconfig.co?
Not today. ifconfig.co's own page documents an Accept: application/json header and curl -4/curl -6 examples for scripting against its lookup. AdminKit's Check API, which would expose the same data programmatically, is not deployed to any public host yet (see AdminKit's own OpenAPI reference), so there is no public API or curl one-liner for this tool at this time.
Is this page ranking these five tools from best to worst?
No. A one-click security-framed lookup, a bare IP display and a scriptable JSON/curl endpoint solve different problems, so a single best-to-worst order would misrepresent what each is for. The table below states only what each tool's own page confirms (or says so honestly when a page couldn't be read), so you can match the tool to what you actually need.
Does this page use whatismyipaddress.com's, ipchicken.com's, ifconfig.co's or whatismyip.com's logo or brand assets?
No. All four names are used only to identify and compare publicly available services (nominative use). AdminKit is not affiliated with or endorsed by whatismyipaddress.com, ipchicken.com, ifconfig.co or whatismyip.com.
