Best free BIMI record checkers

AdminKit's BIMI check reads a domain's published DNS record for free, no account, and flags the prerequisite most BIMI records miss — an enforcing DMARC policy; EasyDMARC, Red Sift and dmarcian go further by also reading the SVG logo and the Verified Mark Certificate itself, which AdminKit, MxToolbox and BIMI Group's own Inspector don't check.

Ranked at a glance

What’s actually free, sourced from each tool’s own page

All six tools compared here run a free, no-account BIMI record check today. AdminKit’s BIMI check looks up the default._bimi.<domain> DNS TXT record, reads back the logo URL (l=) and authority-evidence (a=) tags it declares, and flags the domain’s DMARC-enforcement status from the same mail-posture result. BIMI Group’s BIMI Inspector, read 2026-11-07, comes from the AuthIndicators Working Group that maintains the BIMI specification itself, and states plainly: “This tool only validates the format of your BIMI record and your DMARC record being at enforcement. It does not validate your SVG or Mark Certificate.” MxToolbox’s BIMI Record Lookup, read 2026-11-07, “will look for a BIMI Record for the queried domain name, display the BIMI Record (if found), and run a series of diagnostic checks against the record,” with no VMC or SVG validation mentioned on the page.

EasyDMARC’s BIMI Lookup Tool, Red Sift’s BIMI Checker and dmarcian’s BIMI Inspector — all read 2026-11-07 — each go further on their own pages: EasyDMARC “finds and validates your logo and the VMC”; Red Sift’s own FAQ states it “reads the certificate your BIMI record points to and reports the issuer, the organization the certificate was issued to, whether it is a Verified Mark Certificate or a Common Mark Certificate, the trademark registration or mark evidence behind it … and how many days remain before it expires”; dmarcian’s page states its tools “help organizations quickly check, create, validate, and troubleshoot their BIMI configuration,” including a dedicated “BIMI SVG Validator.”

The criteria and weights behind the ranking below

This page ranks the six tools by what each one’s own page actually demonstrates:

  • Reads and validates the Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) itself — issuer, organization or trademark evidence, not just whether the record’s a= tag is present (35%).
  • Validates the SVG logo file, not only the URL it points to (20%).
  • Flags the DMARC-enforcement prerequisite BIMI depends on (25%).
  • Also offers a record generator/builder for fixing what the check finds (20%).

Scored against those weights, Red Sift ranks first: its own page is the most detailed of the six about what it reads from a domain’s VMC — issuer, organization, trademark evidence and expiry — on top of SVG, DMARC and SPF checks. dmarcian and EasyDMARC both state they validate the VMC and the SVG logo too, and both bundle a generator. BIMI Group’s BIMI Inspector, run by the working group that maintains the BIMI specification itself, is explicit that it checks only record format and DMARC enforcement — its own page states it skips SVG and VMC validation entirely, by design rather than by gap. AdminKit’s BIMI check sits in the same place on the VMC/SVG criteria today: AdminKit’s own tool page states it reads whether the a= tag is present, not the certificate’s validity, and does not fetch or render the SVG. That keeps AdminKit out of the top three on this page’s published weights — an honest result of the criteria, not a ranking AdminKit gets to skip.

Is BIMI Group’s BIMI Inspector the authority on BIMI, even without a VMC check?

For record format and the DMARC prerequisite, yes — it comes directly from the AuthIndicators Working Group that writes the BIMI Internet-Draft itself, which is a genuine credibility edge none of the commercial tools here can claim. But “authority on the specification” and “checks every part of a BIMI deployment” are different things: BIMI Group’s own BIMI Inspector page states outright that it does not validate the SVG logo or the Verified Mark Certificate, the two pieces EasyDMARC, Red Sift and dmarcian all read. A domain that passes BIMI Group’s BIMI Inspector still needs one of those other tools — or a VMC issuer’s own validation — before assuming the logo will actually render correctly everywhere a mailbox provider checks for one.

A transparency note on unverified rows

Two points in the table above are marked unverified (dash) rather than guessed: whether MxToolbox’s and dmarcian’s own pages state a DMARC-enforcement check, and whether MxToolbox validates the SVG logo or VMC. Neither tool’s own page, as read on 2026-11-07, states these one way or the other, so this page marks them “not applicable or unknown” instead of assuming a pass or a fail that isn’t backed by the tool’s own documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Is AdminKit's BIMI check better than the other tools listed here?

No — this page doesn't rank AdminKit above the others by default. AdminKit's check is free with no account and reads the BIMI DNS record plus the DMARC-enforcement prerequisite, same as BIMI Group's own BIMI Inspector. EasyDMARC, Red Sift and dmarcian each go further on their own pages, reading the SVG logo file and the Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) itself — something AdminKit doesn't do yet.

Which of these tools actually validates the Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), not just whether the tag is present?

Based on each tool's own page, read 2026-11-07: Red Sift's BIMI Checker reads the certificate's issuer, the organization it was issued to, whether it's a VMC or Common Mark Certificate (CMC), the trademark evidence behind it and its expiry; dmarcian's BIMI Inspector states it verifies the VMC; EasyDMARC's BIMI Lookup Tool states it "validates ... the VMC." AdminKit's BIMI check and BIMI Group's own BIMI Inspector both read only whether the record's `a=` authority-evidence tag is present, not the certificate's validity — AdminKit's own tool page states this limit directly.

Does BIMI Group's own BIMI Inspector check the SVG logo or the VMC?

No, by its own statement. BIMI Group's BIMI Inspector page reads: "This tool only validates the format of your BIMI record and your DMARC record being at enforcement. It does not validate your SVG or Mark Certificate." It comes from the AuthIndicators Working Group that maintains the BIMI specification itself, which makes the DMARC-enforcement and record-format check it does run a reliable baseline — just not a VMC or logo check.

Do any of these BIMI checkers also flag a DMARC policy that isn't enforcing yet?

AdminKit, BIMI Group's BIMI Inspector, EasyDMARC and Red Sift all do, per their own pages — each states plainly that BIMI depends on a DMARC policy already at `p=quarantine` or `p=reject`, and checks for it. dmarcian's and MxToolbox's own pages don't explicitly state this check, so this page marks that specific point unverified for those two rather than assuming either way.

Is BIMI an official internet standard like SPF or DMARC?

Not yet. BIMI is an Internet-Draft maintained by the AuthIndicators Working Group (the same group behind BIMI Group's BIMI Inspector), not a published RFC like SPF (RFC 7208), DKIM (RFC 6376) or DMARC (RFC 7489). Every tool on this page, including AdminKit's, checks against that same evolving draft rather than a finished standard.

Does this page use any competitor's logo or brand assets?

No. Every name here is used only to identify and compare publicly available tools (nominative use). AdminKit is not affiliated with or endorsed by BIMI Group, EasyDMARC, MxToolbox, Red Sift, or dmarcian.
